Teen Driving Stolen Truck Crashes into School Bus

A teen driving a stolen pickup truck crashes into a school bus on Tuesday, Nov 5, 2019. The truck was being chased by the police at the time. Two adults on board the bus as well as the teen driver of the truck were injured in the crash.

According to the authorities, the pickup truck was stolen early in the morning. It was stolen by a 15-year old suspect from the Spaulding Street, Houston. The truck belonged to two men who were transporting furniture on it and were in the act of carrying the furniture back and forth from the truck to a building. It was then that the teen suspect jumped into the truck and took off.

The crime was reported to the authorities right away and the police were able to spot the vehicle fairly soon. However, when a police officer tried to stop the truck, the teen drove it away at a high speed. It was then that the police pursued the truck.

As the pursuit was ongoing, the teen crashed the truck into a Galena Park ISD school bus. The truck crashed into the bus at a fairly high speed, around 70mph according to a spokesperson of the Houston Police Department. The crash took place at Mercury Drive in the Interstate 10 frontage lanes. It caused injuries to two adults on board the bus. The teen driver of the stolen truck sustained more serious injuries and was still unconscious several hours after the crash.

It is still unclear what caused the teen to steal the truck. The authorities are likely to bring up multiple charges against the teen, including auto theft and evading the police. Being only 15 years old, the teen will be tried as a juvenile delinquent as per the Texas laws.
