First legal action taken in deadly chemical release

Brent Coon represents the daughter of Chrystle Rae Wise, 48, who was killed during the industrial incident. Coon wants the company to preserve all records and machinery relating to the incident and the operation of the Crop Protection Unit at the DuPont plant in La Porte.

On Saturday morning, hazardous gas from the DuPont plant in La Port, Texas, claimed the lives of four workers while injuring one other.  Chrystle Rae Wise, local resident and employee of DuPont, was among those tragically killed on the job when deadly Methyl Mercaptan gas apparently leaked.

Railroad machinist awarded $51,000 in damages and back pay following suspension for videotaping machinery testing

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has ordered Union Pacific Railroad to pay $51,000 in punitive damages and back pay to an employee based in Carson after it violated federal whistleblower provisions when it illegally suspended him for videotaping a safety inspection on his cell phone.

A lawsuit was filed on Tuesday afternoon in Lincoln County against General Motors on behalf of a Missouri man who’s daughter was permanently injured in an accident. According to her father, Kayla Marler was "a teen age girl with the dangly key chain".  Kayla was 16 years old at the time of the accident.

But is that the bottom line? No. It is what the rest of the opinion says, and doesn’t say, that matter most in the long run.
