Baton Rouge, LA Office
In the spring of 2007, Brent Coon & Associates expanded its operations to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Originally working closely with the New Orleans office, the two offices have consolidated in the state’s capitol city. The Baton Rouge office focuses primarily on asbestos litigation, helping people who suffer from mesothelioma or asbestos related lung cancer seek justice from the companies that exposed them to hazardous asbestos products.
The attorneys in Baton Rouge also carry a sizeable docket of cases involving hearing loss, typically fighting for former employees of noisy paper mills, constructions sites or other industrial plants whose employers failed to provide employees with adequate measures of hearing protection. While the bulk of the office’s work is in asbestos and hearing loss litigation, the attorneys in Baton Rouge are also experienced in vehicle accident suits and wrongful termination claims.
Jason Placke, a native Louisianan, joined the Baton Rouge office in 2010. Jason knew by the time he was 8 years old that one day he would be a lawyer. As he listened to his Uncle Allan and Great Uncle Edgar talk with passion about the opportunities they had as lawyers to help people and right wrongs, he felt that same passion and commitment grow in him. "For many people, what they want to do as a career will change many times," Jason said. "I have never wanted to do anything else but practice law and I consider myself very lucky to be fulfilling that lifelong goal and dream."
After 10 years in other practices, Douglas Krauss joined Brent Coon & Associates in May of 2006. As a Midwest native, Mr. Krauss completed his undergraduate degree at Indiana University before earning his J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1997. Licensed to practice in both Illinois and Louisiana, Mr. Krauss has successfully tried multiple cases in front of judge and jury, including the Louisiana Fourth and Fifth Court of Appeals. He is an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
